Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Has Died

Tributes have poured in for the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who has died suddenly aged 50.

Hawkins' death was confirmed by the band Foo Fighters who released this statement via social media.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of Taylor Hawkins", the band said in a statement. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time”. 

Cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

The band are currently on tour in South America, with their last show involving Hawkins taking place on March 22 in Lollapalooza, Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

Drummer Hawkins died before Foos were to perform at Festival Estero Picnic in Bogotá, Colombia yesterday (March 25). 

Hawkins joined the Foo Fighters in 1997, replacing their sticksman William Goldsmith. He had previously worked with singer Alanis Morrisette's band for her 'Jagged Like A Pill' and 'Can't Not' tours. 

Tributes Paid 

Following his death, musicians such as Brian May, Mike Portnoy, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Nickleback among others have paid tributes.
