The Script's Guitarist Mark Sheehan Dies Aged 46

The Script's guitarist Mark Sheehan has died aged 46, following a brief illness.

Sheehan was renowned for being the guitarist with Irish band The Script, alongside singer Danny O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power, having formed in 2001.

The band confirmed the sad news regarding Sheehan's death via social media.

“Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate andd friend Mark Sheehan passed away in hospital after a brief illness”, they wrote. “The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time”.

Mark Sheehan formed one half of the pop duo My Town alongside Danny O'Donoghue in the 1990s. After they disbanded, the pair headed to Los Angeles to hone in on their skills as musicians, and learn how the music industry works.

Returning to Ireland, the pair formed The Script alongside drummer Glen Power, and the band subsequently sold 20 million records, becoming known for hits such as 'Hall of Fame', 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved', 'Superheroes', and 'For The First Time'.  

Having missed many concerts in 2021 and 2022, Mark Sheehan returned to the Script last Summer, as they took to the stage at Belfast's SSE Arena, Dublin's 3Arena, and Cork's Musgrave Park.

Sheehan spent most of his time in America with his wife Rina. The couple had three children, Cameron, Avery and Lil.
