Warmest May On Record In Ireland Says Met Éireann

Last May was the warmest on record in Ireland, according to Met Éireann.

The national forecaster have revealed that last month's average temperatures recorded figures of 13.08C, which was 2.53C above the long term average for 1961-1990. These figures are also 1.74C above the 1991-2000 long term average for May. 

Last month also saw the average temperatures for May exceed 13C for the second time in 125 years. The previous time this happened was in 2008 when the temperatures hit an average of 13.03C.

The national forecaster also revealed that the coldest May came in 1923, when an average of 8.67C was recorded.
