Met Éireann Warn That Heavy Rain May Lead To Localised Flooding

Met Éireann has warned that persistent rain may lead to localised flooding in parts of the country today.

Status Orange and Yellow weather warnings were placed for several counties across Ireland, with the Orange Warning placed in counties Cork and Waterford.

This morning, city council met in Cork, where they said that no major incidents were reported by the Severe Weather Assessment Team. The council did add that they expected 30mm of rain to fall in the city. 

A Yellow Warning was placed for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Wexford, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary. Both warnings will be in place until 6pm this evening.

Met Éireann have also warned that flooding could lead to poor visibility on the roads, making travelling conditions difficult.

Road users have been advised by the Road Safety Authority to check local traffic and weather updates, especially those counties affected by the Status Orange warning.

The RSA have also urged road users to dip their headlights, to ensure that they are visible to other motorists while driving.
