Former President Mary Robinson has joined forces with TikTok for a new climate initiative.
Mrs Robinson has teamed up with the Youth Climate Leaders Alliance, a programme designed to help participants with the skills, knowledge, and tools to make a real difference in tackling climate change.
Aimed at 18-30 year olds, the programme will run from 1 May until the end of this year, including an eight-month climate leadership workshop series. It will be held at the Mary Robinson Centre.
"The Mary Robinson Centre's partnership with TikTok to deliver the TikTok Youth Climate Leaders Alliance is an exciting development", Mrs Robinson said of the programme. "It has the potential to deliver real impact, empowering a new generation and building a movement of young people equipped to address some of the global challenges ahead, and to drive significant change. I look forward to seeing their achievements in time".
Speaking on this alliance, TikTok's Elaine Fox said it was an honour to team up with Mrs Robinson.
"It has the potential to deliver real impact, empowering a new generation and building a movement of young people equipped to address some of the global challenges ahead, and to drive significant change. I look forward to seeing their achievements in time", she said.
This initiative also includes a climate literacy and leadership programme for secondary schools, as well as digital learning resources.
A bursary opportunity will also be provided at the end of the programme, with five participants awarded to continue their climate action initiatives.
