Localised Flooding Warning Issued for Limerick

Met Éireann has warned of the possibility of localised flooding in Limerick in the coming days.

Expected thunderstorm activity could lead to localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions across the county.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for several parts of the country, including Limerick. It's the second time in less than 48 hours that the forecaster has had to issue such a warning.

The warning took effect from 9am this morning an will be in place for 24 hours. Along with Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Kerry, Connacht, Ulster and parts of north Leinster are expected to be effected by the unseasonably harsh weather.

"Thunderstorm activity with the risk of hail, coupled with longer spells of rain over Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Tipperary, will lead to localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions," Met Éireann said in a statement.

The forecaster is urging road users to exercise caution if travelling during the poor weather.

Met Éireann expects the weather to improve in the middle of the month but has ruled out a return to the heatwave conditions of July.
