Over €80,000 of Drugs Seized in Cork Searches

Suspected illegal drugs with a combined value of over €80,000 have been seized by Gardaí across two separate searches in Cork on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday evening Gardaí in Cork City searched a container near Centre Park Road. The search led to the seizure of €55,000 of suspected cannabis herb, €5,000 of suspected cocaine and a quantity of suspected diazepam tablets. A weighing scales and zip lock bags were found alongside the drugs.

Gardaí arrested two men in their thirties at the scene of the search. Following questioning at Bridewell Garda Station, the two men were charged and are due to appear before Cork City District Court on Friday.

On Thursday, Gardaí from the Mayfield District Drugs Unit, in collaboration with the Armed Support Unit, uniform Gardaí from Watercourse Road and Detective Gardaí from Mayfield, searched a home in Carrignavar where an illegal cannabis growing operation was uncovered.

€16,800 of suspected cannabis plants were seized, along with €5,000 of suspected cannabis herb.

Gardaí arrested a man in his thirties and detained him at Mayfield Garda Station, where he was subsequently charged. He is due to appear before Cork City District Court on Friday.

The searches were made as part of ongoing Garda investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in the Cork region.
