Large Drug Seizure Made in Limerick City - Two Arrested

Gardaí seized over €100,000 worth of drugs in Limerick City on Thursday.

The search conducted by Limerick Divisional Drug Unit and Armed Support Unit found large amounts of heroin (€82,000), crack cocaine (€20,000) and the heavy tranquilizer, alprazolam (€3,000).

Two premises in the King’s Island area of the city were searched, as part of Operation Tara.

Two men, aged in their 40s and 20s, have been arrested.

They are being detained at a Garda Station in Limerick City under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

All of the drugs seized (totalling €105,000) will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

An Garda Síochána has described the investigation as ongoing.

UPDATE: Both men have now been charged and are expected to appear before a sitting of Limerick District Court at 12.30pm today.
