Shane MacGowan's wife Victoria Mary Clarke has confirmed that her husband has been discharged from hospital.
The Pogues star has spent the last few months being treated for an infection called viral encephalitis, which causes swelling in the brain, at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.
Having previously thanked fans for their support earlier this month, Irish journalist and writer, Victoria Mary Clarke took to Instagram to confirm that the singer has been discharged.
"Shane got out of the hospital!”, revealed Clarke. “We are deeply and eternally grateful to all of the doctors and nurses and staff at St Vincent’s it’s the best!”, she added. “And special thanks to Tom Creagh and Brian Corscadden for your help”.
